Our Glorious Leader

There are many people who have written fan pieces about how fantastic Gordon's speech was to the assembled masses on Monday.

I had a quick play with Many Eyes (my preferred option to Swivel when playing with text) to show the topics being discussed. This allowed me to create some funky, interactive charts.

I fully believe in playing around with charts and graphs.

Location aware web

Nice article exploring some of the possibilities of combining GPS and the web.

Again, they are all uses which depend on having pretty unlimited use of bandwidth with your phone deal. It'll be interesting to see how this develops. Having some kind of GPS system on your phone seems to be a very popular feature in America but I'm not sure how much use it gets in this country.

Does anyone have GPS phones? If you do, do you use the function?

I suspect that anyone who finds it useful has to drive to lots of random places.

Some things what I learned about Google

Nice, short interview which taught me two things:

1. Adsense was invented as a way to monetise an early version of Gmail - it just launched first.

2. Google's Orkut is the second largest social network in the world, after Myspace. Everyone here thinks it's crap, but apparently in India "people think Orkut owns Google, not the other way round."

Great bit of viral marketing

Really, really hate to link to the Daily Mail, but this article does report on an excellent bit of guerilla marketing on Facebook by a porn site. Hugely impressive.
